CONNEX event sum up.

In the first week of January, when many were struggling to get back into full work mode, Connect Vending started the year as they mean to go on.

Many of Vending’s senior figures were invited to the second, (and what is likely to become an annual), Connex event (Connect Vending Communication Exchange), held at The Crazy Bear in Stadhampton. They were treated to an informative couple of hours in which Connect MD Steven Garner, (pictured), led the presentations and together with his talented management team, shared their plans and aspirations for the year.

Chairman Stuart Coutts sadly couldn’t make the event as he was unwell.

Steven explained that the purpose of the event was to share the company’s plans with key stakeholders, hoping to spark discussion, innovation and collaboration. He was quick to inform his audience that the strategy seemed to be working: key suppliers have announced concepts that will tie in with their strategic goals and that many had offered Connect a limited period of exclusivity.connex3

Included in the presentations was news of an exclusive deal to distribute a new Italian Capsule system; an e-mail and text alert system to monitor engineers’ movements; an updated website and targeted social media campaigns; the development of a mobile device ‘app’ for browsing and product purchases; a Customer Champion scheme (in which senior managers take ownership of a cluster of customers to act as their ‘voice in the business’); an innovative approach to the concept of Micro Markets and finally, a new range of paper cups that’s due to roll out during February.

Just a quiet start to the year then…

The event concluded with an excellent lunch in stunning surroundings and left guests impressed at the professionalism and the content of the event. Indeed, many said they were ‘looking forward to next year.’

It looks as though ‘Connex’ is set to become vending’s annual post-Christmas wake-up call!
