Following a building refurbishment and changes to working models since 2020, the PGS team sought a consolidation of their existing machine fleet whilst aiming for improvements in service delivery and quality of hot drinks.

About PGS

PGS is a global geophysical company that gathers offshore survey data and uses vast cloud compute to image the earth. Geophysics is a key enabler for energy security and energy sustainability.

Located in The Heights Business Park in Weybridge, the PGS UK Head Office is the centre of UK operations and is home to employees spanning many departments.

The Challenges

The PGS main UK office in Weybridge has more than 130 staff. Following a refurbishment by the building’s landlord and changes to the way of working from 2020, there was an opportunity for the business to reduce their office space square footage. This resulted in the reduction of occupied floors from three to one, with their new ground floor operation utilising just 30,000 square feet.

One of the challenges PGS faced following this change was what to do with their existing food and beverage setup, namely their fleet of ageing GSM machines that were now over-capacity and not aligned with the premium look and feel of the renovation work.

Working with PGS has been an absolute pleasure – the team put the food and beverage requirements of their staff at the top of their list, and their investment in premium hot drinks machines for employees demonstrates that.

We thoroughly enjoy working with PGS and are delighted that they’ve had a great experience since joining us as a client.

The Solution

Connect Vending engaged with PGS at the beginning of the project in November 2022, as one of four suppliers shortlisted to propose a new hot drinks solution for the reduced capacity Weybridge office.

Over the following 4-6 weeks, Connect met with the PGS team on-site to discuss their challenges, define objectives and work through a range of different solutions. This process also included a visit to an existing client based in London, to demonstrate one of the potential coffee solutions, both to assess the suitability of the equipment and to taste test the coffee for quality and consistency.

Having been impressed by the thoroughness and collaborative nature of the sales process, as well as Connect’s background in the industry and breadth of products, PGS appointed Connect as the supplier for this project.

This supplier agreement saw the fleet of 8 GSM coffee machines and one fresh milk machine consolidated to three fresh milk, bean to cup Franke machines, reducing the overall on-site capacity as requested by PGS, as well as significantly improving the quality and variety of coffee products.

The five year agreement with Connect also sees consumables including fresh milk, oat milk, coffee beans, teabags and more, all available through standing orders and with next-day delivery, keeping the new machines well stocked at all times.

We have been extremely happy with the solutions that Connect proposed and implemented for PGS. Our team have been very complimentary of the coffee from our new fresh milk machines, and we’ve had great reliability from the machines since install.

I’d also like to say how great the Wholesale team at Connect have been in providing all our ingredients promptly and at a great price.
